Graphite end face seal achieves sealing effect via spring force that keeps graphite ring and the rotating shaft in contact .But the force that the spring force needs to overcome is not a constant value. It depends on the rotating shaft speed, oil pressure, oil temperature and oil viscosity. When the shaft rotates at a high speed, an oil film forms between the shaft and the graphite ring. The thickness of this oil film also depend on the speed of the shaft, oil pressure, oil temperature, and oil viscosity. The test process is usually accompanied by oil leakage.And the amount of oil leakage is an important factor for evaluaing sealing performance.
